We believe in direct, transparent communication. There is no outsourced customer support or opaque ticketing system—your correspondence is handled directly by the site operator.

There are no user accounts on this site, which means there is nothing to sign up with and no personal profile to build. Specifically, ShortTrick deliberately does not:

• Never ask for personal credentials: No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or billing details are collected to use our tools.
• Never set tracking cookies: No cookies are created or read for tracking, user attribution, or advertising purposes.
• Never run third-party analytics: No Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Mixpanel, or third-party telemetry scripts are installed.
• Never embed surveillance pixels: No social network tracking pixels, tracking widgets, or advertising networks are loaded.
• Never operate a personal database: There is no database storing user identities, uploaded files, or conversion history.

Almost all utilities on ShortTrick—including PDF merging, image compression, format converters, audio processing, JSON formatting, and calculators—decode, process, and re-encode your files entirely inside your web browser using HTML5, Canvas, and WebAssembly technologies.

Your files are never transmitted to any remote server. The file is read directly from your local drive into your browser tab’s memory, modified locally according to your instructions, and offered back to you as an immediate download. Closing or refreshing the tab instantly wipes it from memory.

Each tool page explicitly states its technical processing method so you always know whether an operation is executed 100% locally.

The site uses your browser’s Local Storage—never HTTP cookies—to retain two minimal interface preferences. Both keys remain exclusively on your device, are never transmitted to our servers, and can be inspected or cleared by you at any time:

Clearing your browser’s site data or browsing in Incognito/Private mode deletes both keys immediately. The site will simply fall back to default settings without breaking.

A tiny handful of tools cannot function purely within the browser because they require live internet data:

• Currency Conversion: Fetches published foreign exchange tables from public financial feeds (e.g. open.er-api.com). The request contains no information about you; it merely asks for standard public rate tables.
• SEO & PageSpeed Analyzers: Fetches public webpage metadata or queries Google’s PageSpeed Insights API for a target URL you provide. The URL you enter is transmitted so the diagnostic audit can be performed. Do not submit internal, confidential, or password-protected URLs.
• Domain Search & WHOIS Lookup: Queries authoritative ICANN RDAP and DNS resolvers to check domain availability in real time. We do not store, front-run, or log your search queries.

For these network routes, your IP address is held momentarily in server memory solely to enforce rate limits against denial-of-service abuse, and is discarded as the sliding time window expires. It is never logged in a persistent database.

Like virtually all web hosts and content delivery networks (CDNs), our underlying cloud infrastructure generates standard web server logs (including request timestamps, HTTP user agents, and IP addresses) for basic network security, DDoS mitigation, and operational monitoring.

These logs are handled in compliance with industry-standard retention practices and are never combined with personal identifiers. We mention this because claiming “zero server logging” on any internet-connected website would be technically inaccurate.

ShortTrick is a general-audience digital utility website. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in applicable European jurisdictions).

Because our tools do not require accounts, logins, or names, no age-gating is required or technically possible.

Under major data protection frameworks—including GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA—individuals have legal rights to access, rectify, export, or delete personal data held by a data controller.

Because ShortTrick does not hold a database of personal information, user profiles, or stored files, there is no personal data to export or delete. If our architecture ever evolves to introduce features that touch personal data—such as optional accounts or cloud syncing—this privacy policy will be updated with clear prior notice on this page before those features take effect.
