Each hop is requested on its own rather than letting the HTTP client follow the chain silently, which is what makes the intermediate Location values visible at all; the trace is abandoned after five hops, the same ceiling Googlebot applies. The hops are then classified: how many were permanent 301 or 308, how many temporary 302, 303 or 307, how many switched scheme between http and https, and how many changed host. A temporary redirect sitting on a permanent move is called out, because a 302 keeps the old URL in the index.

The request is made by ShortTrick's server through its inspect route, with a User-Agent of ShortTrickSEOInspector/1.0, so the site you trace logs a visit from us and not from you, and none of your cookies or headers are forwarded.
