Ratio Calculator runs in two modes: simplify a ratio to its lowest terms, or solve A : B = C : D for the missing fourth term.
Simplify divides both terms by their greatest common divisor, so 1920 : 1080 comes back as 16 : 9, and it also reports each term as a share of the total plus the ratio as a single decimal. Solve mode cross-multiplies, D = B × C ÷ A, and prints the scale factor C ÷ A next to the answer. Both terms have to be positive, and because the greatest common divisor is an integer operation, a ratio typed with decimals can come back with implausibly large terms — multiply both sides up to whole numbers before entering them.
The two or three terms you enter are not stored and not passed on.
