Remove Audio from Video

Remove Audio from Video strips the sound out of up to five videos and returns each one silent, leaving the picture untouched wherever that is possible.

The first attempt copies the video stream across and simply omits the audio, which takes seconds regardless of the length of the clip and leaves the picture byte-identical — nothing is decoded and nothing is re-compressed. That only works when the video codec is legal inside MP4; a VP8 or VP9 WebM has to be re-encoded to H.264 instead, and the per-file notes say which of the two happened to each one. A file that already has no audio track is refused by name rather than processed into an identical copy of itself.

Nothing is uploaded, which is the whole point when the reason for muting is what can be heard in the background — that audio is discarded inside the page and never transmitted.

Silencing background conversation or wind noise before sharing a clip, removing music that would get a video blocked on upload, producing a silent loop for a web page, and muting footage you only need as visuals.
