Image Enhancer runs a photo through three corrections — a per-channel auto-levels stretch, an unsharp mask, and a saturation lift — any of which you can switch off.
Auto-levels reads each colour channel's histogram, discards a fraction of a per cent at either end, and stretches what remains to the full range; that is the step that lifts a flat, hazy or slightly underexposed picture. The unsharp mask then restores apparent crispness and the saturation stage warms the colour, both scaled by a single strength control. These are classical pixel operations rather than a model, and there is no noise reduction anywhere in the chain — on a high-ISO shot the sharpening will make existing grain more visible, not less. It cannot reconstruct a blurred face or recover an unreadable plate.

When to use it

How it works
The stretch takes each colour channel on its own, discards a fraction of a per cent at the dark end and the bright end, and spreads what is left across the full 0-255 range. Sharpening and the colour lift follow on the stretched pixels, and the result panel names every step that ran.
There Is No Denoise Step
Nothing here reduces noise, and the sharpening pass pushes the other way: on a high-ISO or night frame it makes the grain that is already there easier to see. Neither can it rebuild a face that was out of focus or a plate that was already unreadable — the pass only redistributes values that the sensor did record.
Why A Little Clipping Is Deliberate
Throwing away a sliver at each end of the histogram is what lets the stretch reach true black and true white. It means a few of the darkest and brightest pixels are pinned, which is usually a fair trade on a hazy picture and the wrong trade on one that is already well exposed.
