How to Use Image Metadata & EXIF Viewer Online: Step-by-Step Guide
Inspect camera model, shutter speed, ISO, GPS coordinates, and lens settings
About Image Metadata & EXIF Viewer — Free Online Tool
Image Metadata Viewer reads the EXIF, IPTC and XMP tags hidden inside a photo: camera and lens, shutter, aperture, ISO, the date it was taken, and GPS coordinates when they are present.
Parsing is done by the exifr library, which reads the tag blocks straight out of the file; the dimensions and file size shown alongside are measured from the image itself rather than trusted from a tag, and the tool says how many tags it found. Coordinates, where they exist, are turned into a map link so you can see precisely what the file gives away. Plenty of images legitimately have nothing to show — screenshots, exports from most editors, and anything a social network has re-saved arrive already stripped — and that is stated plainly rather than implying the file is damaged.
The file is parsed in your browser and nothing is uploaded, which is rather the point: checking whether a photo carries your home coordinates should not mean handing the photo to anybody.
Checking a photo for GPS before posting it, confirming which camera and lens took a shot, reading the exposure settings off a picture you want to reproduce, and verifying that a file you were sent is the original rather than a re-save.

When to use it
Allows photographers to audit shutter speed, aperture, focal length, and privacy-sensitive GPS coordinates.
How it works
The tag blocks are pulled out by the exifr library — EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP and interop — and the dimensions beside them are measured off the decoded picture rather than read from a tag. Because that second step uses your browser's own image decoder, the file has to be one your browser can open: a JPEG works everywhere, a HEIC only where the browser supports it, and a .tif will not decode at all.
GPS Privacy
Smartphones embed exact latitude and longitude which can leak location if shared.
An Empty Result Is Not A Fault
Screenshots, exports from most editors and anything a social network has re-saved arrive with their tags already gone. When nothing comes back, the tool says the file carries no EXIF rather than implying it is damaged.
