PDF to Image renders the pages of a PDF as JPG or PNG pictures — every page, or just the ones you pick.
Rendering is done by pdf.js, the engine Firefox uses to display PDFs, which draws each page onto a canvas at a scale factor rather than extracting anything that was already an image. The default scale of 2 works out to roughly 144 dpi; raise it for print, bearing in mind the canvas grows with the square of the number. Text and vector art are redrawn as pixels, so the result is a picture of the page and nothing in it is selectable or searchable any more. More than one page comes back as a ZIP.
pdf.js runs in your browser, normally in a background worker, so the PDF is never uploaded. If the bundled worker cannot be reached it falls back to the main thread, which is slower but still entirely local.
