Social Media Image Resizer fits a photo to a platform's exact frame — square, 4:5, 9:16, a YouTube or LinkedIn banner — either by cropping it to fill or by fitting the whole thing inside and filling the rest.

Contain mode is the default and the interesting one: the picture is drawn oversized behind itself, blurred at a 24 pixel radius and dimmed to three-quarter brightness, and then the whole image is placed on top of that backdrop. The frame is filled, nothing is cropped, and there are none of the dead black bars letterboxing normally leaves. Cover mode instead scales to fill and discards whatever falls outside, so check that nothing important was near an edge. Giving a target size in kilobytes turns on a quality search — the encoder is run repeatedly at lower settings until the result fits — so the size you are shown is the size you download.
