About Annotate PDF — Free Online Tool

Annotate PDF attaches a sticky-note comment to a page, with an author name on it, that readers open from their comments list.

Unlike the marking tools here, this writes a genuine /Text annotation object: a note icon at the coordinates you give, carrying the comment, the author name, a timestamp and a colour, registered against the page. Acrobat, Preview and Chrome all list it in their comment sidebar, and because it is a real annotation a reader can reply to it or delete it. One note is placed per page you select, all at the same spot and all carrying the same text, so a page-by-page review means one run per comment.

The note and the document it hangs on both stay on your machine. There is no shared review session and no copy left on a server.

Returning a draft with a reviewer note on the cover page, leaving a query on a specification for its author, flagging what changed for the next person in the chain, and recording why a document was sent back.
