Paragraph Counter reports how many blocks a piece of text is divided into, so you can see how a document is broken up rather than how long it runs.
A paragraph here is any stretch of text between line breaks: the split is on one or more newlines, which means a single Enter starts a new block just as a blank line does. Text copied out of a PDF, where every visual line ends in a hard newline, therefore counts each line as its own paragraph — rejoin the wrapped lines first if you want the structure the author intended. Empty blocks are dropped, so trailing blank lines at the end of a paste do not inflate the figure.
The document is read only by the page in front of you. No part of it reaches a server, and nothing is written to storage.
