How to Use Audio Converter Online: Step-by-Step Guide
Convert audio files between MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, AAC, and WMA with custom bitrate settings
About Audio Converter — Free Online Tool
Audio Converter re-encodes up to ten audio files into MP3, WAV, OGG Vorbis or AAC, with the bitrate, sample rate and bit depth set by you rather than fixed by a preset.
Each file is decoded and written again one at a time: MP3 through libmp3lame, OGG through libvorbis, AAC through the native AAC encoder, and WAV as plain PCM at 16, 24 or 32 bits. The bitrate control only means anything for the three compressed formats — uncompressed audio has no bitrate, which is why the bit depth selector appears only when WAV is chosen and why the result reports a WAV output that came out larger than the input. Only the first audio stream in a file is read, and going from one compressed format to another is a second lossy pass, so the losses of the original encode are carried into the new one.
Decoding and encoding both run inside a Web Worker on your own machine, which is why a ten-file batch is bounded by how much memory your browser has rather than by an upload allowance. No audio is transmitted.
Making an OGG or AAC file that an older player will accept, pulling a 48 kHz recording down to 44.1 kHz, giving a mixed folder of downloads one consistent bitrate, and producing an uncompressed WAV for a sampler that refuses compressed audio.
