Pressure Converter

Convert pressure units between PSI, Bar, Pascals (Pa), Kilopascals (kPa), and Atmospheres (atm)

Comprehensive Guide & Technical Mechanics

About Pressure Converter — Free Online Converter

Pressure Converter spans fourteen units: pascals and their multiples, bar and millibar, the standard atmosphere, psi and ksi, torr, millimetres and inches of mercury, millimetres of water and kgf per square centimetre.

Pascals are the base, and the two mercury units are kept apart on purpose — torr is defined here as 101325/760 Pa while a millimetre of mercury is 133.322387415 Pa. They diverge only in the ninth digit, but they are not the same unit and the tool does not quietly treat them as one. The thing this converter has no concept of is the datum: it converts a magnitude, so a gauge reading stays a gauge reading. Turning 32 psi of tyre pressure into 2.2 bar is correct, but nothing is added or subtracted for the one atmosphere that separates gauge from absolute, and you have to know which of the two your source quoted.

The figure stays on your device. There is no API route behind this page, so a reading taken off an instrument or a test rig is neither transmitted nor written to storage.

Setting tyre pressure from a manual printed in the other unit, converting a barometric reading from inHg to hPa, checking a hydraulic rating in bar against a psi gauge, and reading a blood-pressure figure in mmHg against a kPa scale.

When to use it

Convert recommended vehicle tire pressures (e.g. 32 PSI = 2.2 Bar) or diving tank ratings.

How it works

Converts through the standard SI unit of pressure (Pascal = 1 N/m^2).

Tire Pressure Benchmark

1 Bar equals approximately 14.5038 PSI.
