Text Diff Checker compares two versions of a text and prints which lines were added, which were removed and which stayed the same.
The comparison is a longest-common-subsequence match over whole lines, the same shape of output a version control system prints: unchanged lines carry two leading spaces, removed lines a minus and added lines a plus, with a tally of each underneath. Because the unit is the line, a single changed word shows as the whole old line removed and the whole new line added — nothing is highlighted at word or character level, and there is no two-column view. Each side is capped at 2,000 lines; beyond that the tool stops and asks for a smaller section instead of locking up, and the finished comparison downloads as a .diff file.
Both versions are compared in the browser. Two drafts of a contract or two revisions of a config file can be lined up without either copy leaving the machine.
